Devotee Demographics Survey
The general consensus seems to be that there are more male devotees than female devotees. Are there? We know that some of us have childhood memories associated with devoteeism and some of us don't. But how do these numbers match up? This survey is meant to put some numbers behind common devotee generalizations. For this to work best, I need a large amount of devotees over a large age range to take this survey. So, please, answer this short questionnaire. Tell your friends. Link to it on your blogs. At the end of this, I'd like to be able to analyze this data and make pretty graphs for everyone to see. The survey is scheduled to end around February 8th, 2012 (a month from now). Remember, even though this survey is associated with Devoteen, anyone from any age group is welcome to take part! Thanks for participating!
Updated 14 January 2012: It's been just under a week since I began the survey, and I've had an overwhelming response! A little over 230 people have already responded, and I want to thank all of you for participating. I truly appreciate everyone who has completed the survey and/or passed the message along to others.
I should clarify a few things. I have two separate questions for sex and gender. Silly me didn't realize there would be any confusion about it. However, someone asked about it so I’ll explain. Basically, not everyone's sex matches the gender they identify with, and I understand that and opted for the most inclusion possible.
Also, when I made the survey, I considered having childhood memories and realizing one is a devotee as two separate things. I assume that childhood memories are not sexual ones, or at least one doesn’t realize they were sexual until at least their teen years. For this reason, ages under 13 weren’t included in the “At what age did you discover you were a devotee?” category.
The original end date for the survey was February 8th. However, I just looked at my calendar for that week, and I am going to be so busy that it’s not even funny. I’m not sure when I’ll end up starting to analyze the data, but anyone can respond up to that point. So, if it’s past the 8th, you still might be able to submit your input. Thanks again for taking part in the survey!
